How to Import CPI to iMovie for Editing?

"I have a canon HD camcorder. When I connect it to my Mac Book Pro, the videos show up as the format, CPI. For example, "0079.CPI" I want to edit the video on iMovie. I was wondering if anyone knows any converter that I can use? I've never heard of the format CPI. Thanks(:"

What is CPI file?
The CPI file is firstly associated with AVCHD video camera and contains metadata about the .MTS file, including the frame rate, frames per second, and aspect ratio. It contains no actual video information, it is just a camcorder clip information file, and the .MTS file holds the actual video data. So, you need not to convert .CPI files to video formats, just deal with the .MTS file.

What is iMovie?
iMovie is a proprietary video editing software application. It is compatible with MP4, MOV etc video formats, but not CPI or MTS.

So, if you want to edit the MTS files content with iMovie, you will need to convert the MTS video to MOV etc first. Here, I'd like to recommend MTS (CPI) to iMovie Converter to you, which allows you to convert MTS video from Canon, Sony, Panasonic, JVC etc camcorder to MOV, MP4, Apple InterMedia Codec(AIC)(.mov) etc iMovie natively supported formats. And then you can import the converted MTS video (CPI Content) to iMovie for editing with ease.
